Chronology

• June 21, 2007 - A jar containing snails was brought in to the UOG-CES office by a worker from a local nursery. Aubrey Moore, UOG-CES forwarded the snail specimens to Barry Smith, UOG Marine Lab, for identification. Smith identified the snails as Succineidae.

• June 21, 2007 - Barry Smith visited the nursery and sent images of the snails to the National Malacologist for identification.

Pesticide Recommendation

Metaldehyde compounds under the brand names Slugfest and Deadline are effective for eradication. The preferred protocol is drenches of Slugfest (liquid metaldehyde) at 3-4 week intervals until no additional specimens are collected for several months.
