*June 20, 2007 - A jar containing snails was brought in to the UOG-CES office by a worker from a local nursery.  Aubrey Moore, UOG-CES forwarded the snail specimens to Barry Smith, UOG Marine Lab, for identification.  Smith identified the snails as Succineidae.

*June 21, 2007 - Barry Smith visited the nursery and sent images of the snails to the National Malacologist for identification.

==Control Recommendation==

Metaldehyde compounds under the brand names Slugfest and Deadline are effective for eradication.  The preferred protocol is drenches of Slugfest (liquid metaldehyde) at 3-4 week intervals until no additional specimens are collected for several months.

Chronology

  • June 20, 2007 - A jar containing snails was brought in to the UOG-CES office by a worker from a local nursery. Aubrey Moore, UOG-CES forwarded the snail specimens to Barry Smith, UOG Marine Lab, for identification. Smith identified the snails as Succineidae.
