These are most probably larvae of the mango seed weevil, ''Sternochetus mangiferae'' (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) (synonym = ''Cryptorhynchus mangiferae'').  These weevils feed only on outer parts of the seed and do not damage the edible part of the pulp.  Most seeds attacked by the mango seed weevil are still viable.

Identification

These are most probably larvae of the mango seed weevil, Sternochetus mangiferae (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) (synonym = Cryptorhynchus mangiferae). These weevils feed only on outer parts of the seed and do not damage the edible part of the pulp. Most seeds attacked by the mango seed weevil are still viable.

This pest was reported from Guam in 1982 (Firman 1982).
